FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of silica refractory material for use in upper structure of vanished glass furnaces. According to the disclosed method, the granular substance containing silicon carbide is mixed with at least one particulate silica fume and binder or mixture of ligaments to produce molding mass, from which bricks are pressed, which are then dried and fired at temperature higher than 1200 °C. Containing silicon carbide granular substance in spectral range from 1 to 5 mcm and at temperatures higher than 1000 °C has spectral radiation coefficient higher than spectral coefficient of radiation of matrix of refractory material. Obtained refractory material contains at least 78 wt. % silicon dioxide and 0.2–20 wt. % SiC.

EFFECT: technical result of invention is increase of emitting ability of silica refractories.
