Spheroidal alumina particles have a BET specific surface area, is 150–300 m2/g, an average particle diameter of 1.2–3 mm, the dispersion of particle diameters, defined as the standard deviation of not greater than 0.1. Said particles have total pore volume, measured by mercury porosimetry making between 0.50–0.85 ml/g, degree of macroporosity in one particle smaller than 30. Spread of macropore diameters, expressed through ratio of diameters D90/D50, does not exceed 8.

EFFECT: invention increases strength of aluminum oxide particles.
