FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in formation of cutting edge of tool from hard alloys and high-speed steels. During formation of cutting surface of plates from hard alloy polishing with polishing mixture is carried out using diamond powder, which is carried out on soft flat circle for 2–5 minutes or in cup with polishing mixture for 30 minutes. At that, garnet or flaked graphite is additionally added to polishing mixture at the following ratio of components, vol. %: graphene or flake graphite 0.1–2.0; diamond powder - balance, wherein diamond powder has grain size of 1/0–3/2.
EFFECT: as a result, the wear resistance of the tool is increased by providing a flat cutting edge and a coating on the machined surface of the hard alloy.
