FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of navigating autonomous underwater vehicles (UV), specifically to hydroacoustic methods of locating UV using underwater acoustic beacons (AB). Solved technical problem is upgraded quality of underwater UV positioning. Instead of active AB emitting hydroacoustic signals, passive AB is used in form of water-filled synthetic spherical shell equipped with eye, for which passive acoustic beacon is suspended during filling of synthetic spherical shell with water, valve, through which pumping of synthetic spherical shell with water, anchor and anchor cable, wherein the synthetic spherical shell has cavities filled with air-containing microspheres. Recognition of AB against background of other reflecting objects is carried out by determination and comparison with threshold values of its speed, distance from bottom, horizontal geometric length and reflection coefficient.
EFFECT: reduced cost, increased time and reliability of AB operation, higher concealment of UV positioning.
