FIELD: radar ranging.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radar ranging and can be used in on-board radar stations for formation of radar image of surface (RI) of the Earth. Method is based on radiation, reception and coherent accumulation of phase-modulated pulse signals, their conversion into complex signals. Further, the complex spectrum of each accumulated pulse complex signal is normalized to the square of the modulus of the complex signal spectrum which modulates the emitted signal by formula

where is complex spectrum of accumulated pulse complex signal, is complex spectrum of modulating signal, is normalized spectrum, forming normalized complex signals by converting each normalized spectrum into a time domain by inverse fast Fourier transform, compressing them, then, phase signals are determined and compensated by compressed signals over the period of signal repetition, spectral analysis of compensated signal is carried out in each range strobe, and radar image amplitudes are formed.

EFFECT: when realizing the claimed method, technical result is achieved, which consists in improvement of probability of object detection on RI due to suppression of side lobes of compressed radar signal.
