FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and is intended for determination of level of instantaneous and integral bulk density of cargo (metal scrap) in open wagons of railway transport. System for determination of bulk density and contamination with non-magnetic materials of metal scrap in open wagons in railway transport comprises a system for open wagon measuring with ferromagnetic material, signal processing and measurement control unit. Measuring system includes a subsystem of two lidars installed at height of 5.0 m from level of railway track rail head to determine instantaneous and average speed of railway open wagon, overall dimensions of cargo and open wagon, open wagon positioning in railway train, as well as subsystem of 10–50 magnetoresistive transducers synchronized with it and installed on existing supports of contact network and / or bridge transitions over railway main line for measurement of total value of instantaneous magnetic field perturbations at passage of railway open wagon.

EFFECT: more accurately determining the level, instantaneous and integral bulk density of cargo in open wagons of railway transport, detecting oversized cargo, detecting deviations from grade.
