FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of determining composition of electrolyte, in particular bath ratio (BR) and concentration of potassium fluoride (KF) in electrolyte based on thermal measurements in order to control the process of electrolysis of aluminum. Method comprises extraction and extraction of at least three samples of molten electrolyte, cooling of samples, construction and analysis of thermal cooling curves, as a result of which BR value is determined for sodium electrolytes or concentration of potassium fluoride for mixed electrolytes with subsequent determination of BR taking into account concentration of KF, provided that content of support phases is not less than 5 wt%.
EFFECT: possibility of rapid and accurate determination of BR electrolyte and concentration of KF in electrolyte.
