FIELD: separation.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to chromatographic separation of substances. Disclosed is a method of fractionating raw material into two or more fractions using a chromatographic sequential system with a simulated moving bed (SMB). SMB-system includes a separation circuit with at least 2 compartments. Method includes a separation cycle comprising at least one feeding step, at least one circulation stage and at least one elution step. Dissolved substances in the raw material form a separation profile as they pass through the separation circuit; and wherein the separation profile passes more than once or less than once through at least part of the separation circuit in each separation cycle. There are at least two flow paths in the separation circuit during each step of feeding the separation cycle. At least one of said flow paths is an active flow path, where liquid actively flows through compartment(s), which form(s) the flow path. And at least one of said flow paths is a passive flow path, where liquid does not actively flow through compartment(s), which form(s) the flow path, and where part of separation profile is held in compartment(s), which form(s) passive flow path. Raw material subject to fractionation is represented by sugar beet molasses, distillery syrup or green molasses. Also disclosed are products obtained using said method.

EFFECT: invention increases output and increases purity of the target fraction.
