FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of extracting iron from zinc sulphate solution, wherein zinc ore is dissolved in sulphuric acid. Method includes a conditioning process involving a step of recovering a solution introduced into a conditioning process, which is a zinc sulphate solution, and an iron deposition process for extracting iron in the form of hematite, comprising a step of increasing pressure and oxidation of a solution introduced into the deposition of iron removed from the conditioning process. According to one embodiment of the invention, the iron deposition process is carried out at a temperature in range of 135 °C to 150 °C and pressure in range of 5 barg up to 10 barg, and according to another version of the invention, the solution introduced into the iron deposition process has a redox potential of -100 mV or less if the reference electrode used is silver/silver-chlorine (Ag/AgCl) electrode.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain hematite with high degree of recovery of valuable metal contained in a zinc sulphate solution.
