FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical technology of producing fibrous silicon and can be used in powder metallurgy, lithium-ion current sources, solar energy converters, semiconductor devices such as thermoelectric transducers, strain gauges and switches. Fibrous silicon is obtained by reducing silicon dioxide at high temperature using a fluorine-containing reducing agent, which is aluminum subfluoride formed by reacting aluminum and aluminum trifluoride, taken in weight ratio aluminum : aluminum trifluoride = 13÷40:60÷87, wherein reduction of silicon dioxide taken in amount of 15÷65 wt% of total amount of aluminum and aluminum fluoride, preliminary vacuuming is carried out in an inert gas stream at a feed rate of 0.1÷10.0 cm3/min per 1 cm2 surface of the silicon dioxide powder at temperature of 900÷1,100 °C and pressure of 1÷10 Pa at a heating rate of 1÷10 deg/min.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain high purity silicon microfibers in a single step.
