FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and is intended for air purification from gaseous compounds of radioactive iodine, first of all, its organic forms during purification and control of gaseous radioactive wastes. Composite material is a porous polyurethane matrix with open pore size of 0.4–0.6 mm, on which finely dispersed impregnated activated carbon is applied, which is a powder with particle size from 40 to 160 mcm. To fix particles of adsorbent in pores of polyurethane matrix there applied is adhesive layer based on water dispersion of polyvinyl acetate with concentration of 90 %. To improve adhesion of the adhesive layer, the porous polyurethane matrix is pre-treated with an aqueous solution of potassium permanganate with concentration of 4–8 g/l.
EFFECT: technical result achieved using the invention is high efficiency of trapping radioactive methyl iodide when tested in a partitioned column with significantly lower hydraulic resistance.
