FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, particularly, removing radioactive iodine from effluent gas flows. Cleaning is performed by absorbing iodine by sorbent from metals selected from the following series: Cu, Ag, Pd, Bi, Pb, Sn, or their alloys with zinc, at 125-250°C.
EFFECT: iodine fixation as hardly-soluble metal salts suitable for small-volume matrix for long-term storage.
