FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extraction of rare-earth metals (REM) from aqueous phases containing corresponding rare-earth metals, and can be used in processing of natural ores and/or industrial wastes for re-use of rare-earth metals in their composition. As extracting agent for extraction of REM from aqueous phase containing phosphoric acid, compound of formula (I) is used:

where n is an integer equal to 0, 1 or 2, R1 and R2 are H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, one of R3 and R4 has formula (II) shown below:

where R5 and R6 represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl or alkoxy group, and the remaining of R3 and R4 has one of the following formulas (II') and (III):

where R5' and R6' represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl or alkoxy group, and R7 and R8 represent H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group.

EFFECT: use of the compound enables to achieve selectivity and improved extraction characteristics.
