METHOD FOR DETERMINING SEVERITY OF CORNEAL ULCER Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B3/00

Abstract RU 2718565 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and is intended for determining severity of corneal ulcer. Degree of pericorneal injection is determined: mild – 1 point, middle – 2, expressed – 3; availability of detachable – 2; localization of the ulcerous defect in the central zone – 3 plus 1 point per each quadrant. Depth of the ulcerous defect:: to superficial layers of stroma – 1, to the middle layers of stroma – 3, to the Descemet's membrane – 5; presence of uveal phenomena – 2. Number of cells in the anterior chamber moisture: 1–20 cells – 1, more than 20 – 2; presence of hypopion – 3, anterior chamber is not visible – 4. IOP value: increased – 1, decreased – 2; thickness of cornea in area of ulcerous defect: 1 – more or equal to 366 mcm, 2 – 183–365 mcm, 3 – less than 183 mcm; presumed etiology: trophic – 1, edge – 2, viral – 3, bacterial – 4, fungal – 5. Slow progressive course – 1, fast-progressive – 3, lightning – 5. Prognostic intensity of corneal opacity in outcome: insignificant – 1, moderate degree of manifestation – 2, coarse turbidity with significant decrease in visual acuity – 3, and with total score less than 20, mild severity is determined, from 20 to 28 – moderate, more than 28 – severe.

EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of complex digital evaluation of severity of corneal ulcers, which enables to select the most adequate methods of treating the given pathology, monitor treatment dynamics, predict the outcome of the disease.
