METHOD FOR EARLY POSTOPERATIVE VISUAL ACUITY PREDICTION Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B5/05 A61B8/10 A61B5/107

Abstract RU 2719011 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, particularly to methods for predicting visual acuity after phacoemulsification of cataract with implantation of intraocular lens in early postoperative period. Patient's age is determined, and standard ophthalmic examinations are performed, including the monocular visual acuity correction. Preoperative ultrasonic examination of an eyeball is performed on IOL Master 700 apparatus to determine a weak and strong corneal meridian - K1 and K2, respectively. If age is more than 70 years old, visual acuity is 0.1 and lower, an anterior-posterior size of eyeball is 22 to 24 mm, K1 is more than 41 but less than 46, K2 is more than 42 but less than 46.5, absence of corneal astigmatism or its presence not more than 3.5, visual acuity in the early postoperative period is predicted to be 0.3 and lower.

EFFECT: method enables predicting visual acuity in the early postoperative period in patients with cataract.
