FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines fuel supply systems. Disclosed is a method of operating an engine with the possibility of injecting fuel into a cylinder through two nozzles, to eliminate the problem of excessive pressure in the fuel rail due to stagnation of hot fuel in it. Method comprises steps, on which engine cylinder is operated with fuel supply only by distributed injection and selectively engage second nozzle (for example, direct injection nozzle) in case of fuel pressure rise in fuel rail connected to second nozzle, and the second nozzle is switched off at pressure drop in the fuel rail to the lower threshold determined depending on engine operation parameters.
EFFECT: thus it is possible to reduce intensity of deterioration of characteristics of the second nozzle, simultaneously maintaining operational characteristics of the engine at the required level.
