FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to centrifugal separators for cleaning gas containing liquid impurities. In particular, the present invention relates to cleaning crankcase gases of an internal combustion engine from oil particles. Separator comprises fixed housing enclosing separation chamber, through which gas flow is allowed, gas inlet, rotary element comprising multiple separating elements arranged in said separation space and made with possibility of rotation around axis (X) of rotation, outlet for gas and electric motor for rotation of rotating element. Outlet for gas comprises outlet hole through wall of fixed housing and drain hole made with possibility of outlet of liquid impurities separated from cleaned gas. Centrifugal separator additionally comprises control unit. Unit is configured to control operation of electric motor and to actuate electric motor in at least two different operating modes and for additional switching between modes of operation depending on at least information on at least one measured internal parameter of electric motor.
EFFECT: technical result: simplified operational control.
