FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to horticulture. Method consists in artificial freezing of generative plant organs in laboratory conditions. One evaluates whole garden strawberry bushes with closed root system. To simulate conditions before freezing, bushes are put in a refrigerating chamber for 24 hours at temperature from 0 to +2 °C. That is followed by freezing in a climatic chamber at temperature -2.5 °C and -3.0 °C, after which the experimental material is held in laboratory conditions for 24 hours before the manifestations of damages and by darkening tissues of pistils and stamens, freezing of generative organs is evaluated.
EFFECT: method provides faster assessment of resistance to spring frosts of wild strawberry plants by estimating degree of freezing on darkening tissues of pistils and stamens in flowers and buds of whole bushes of wild strawberry plants with a closed root system.
