FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemical secondary elements for use in high-energy and high-power batteries, which can be used in electric vehicles. Electrochemical cell comprises a solid metal anode which is deposited on a suitable metal of the collector base, during charging of the element, as well as compatible electrolyte with suitable cathode materials for creation of complete element, at that, electrochemical element contains cathode, containing sodium-containing material, anode, and electrolyte, comprising a solvent and a sodium salt thereof, located between the cathode and the anode, wherein the electrolyte solvent contains sulfur dioxide (SO2), ammonia (NH3) and/or an organic amine.
EFFECT: increased specific energy and service life of a battery containing metallic sodium, is technical result of invention; ammonia in electrolyte provides stable cycling of element.
