FIELD: neonatal care.
SUBSTANCE: more specifically, described are devices, systems and methods associated with maintaining the homeostasis of an extremely premature fetus outside the uterus. According to one of the aspects, the present invention relates to improvement of premature growths of preterm infants before 28th week of pregnancy. Fetus chamber for use in a system configured to receive a human fetus and support the fetus during maturation, comprises a first portion having a first stiff frame, comprising a first peripheral edge and a flexible wall connected to the first rigid frame, and a second portion having a second rigid frame comprising a second peripheral edge, wherein the fetal chamber is configured to hold the volume of the synthetic amniotic fluid in the fetal chamber inner space, sufficient for immersion of human fetus into synthetic amniotic fluid. Fetal chamber additionally comprises an inlet of an amniotic fluid for receiving a stream of synthetic amniotic fluid into a fetal chamber and an outlet for releasing a flow of amniotic fluid from the fetus chamber. Furthermore, 1) the fetal chamber is configured to form a closed configuration, in which a plurality of latches are configured to attach the first and second frames to each other to form a sealed seal between the first and second peripheral edges, and wherein in closed configuration inner space forms volume, which is variable, flexible wall is made with possibility of expansion with increase in volume, and flexible wall is made with possibility of squeezing with volume reduction, 2) the fetal chamber is additionally configured to form an open configuration in which the fetal chamber forms an opening, made with possibility to ensure passage of human fetus into inner space, and 3) hole made with possibility to ensure passage of human fetus into inner space, is configured to close, and the fetus chamber is configured to be sealed by the plurality of latches, such that passage of the fluid medium in the interior through the opening, made with possibility of human fetus passage into inner space is prevented. Also disclosed is an extracorporeal system for life support of a premature human fetus (versions).
EFFECT: technical result is a system which can provide normal fetal growth and organ maturation even for several weeks, that allows to considerably reduce morbidity and mortality from extreme prematurity and improve quality of life in survivors.
