FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysts for hydrothermal liquefaction of plant biomass and can be used in the preparation of alternative liquid motor fuels. Catalyst contains zirconium oxide, cerium oxide, vanadium oxide, aluminum phosphate, finely dispersed aluminum oxide in the following ratio, wt%: zirconium oxide 1.0–50.0; cerium oxide 0.5–2.0; vanadium oxide 0.1–10.0; aluminum phosphate 1.0–5.0; fine-dispersed aluminum oxide - balance up to 100 in sulphated form.

EFFECT: improved activity of the catalyst with respect to organosulphuric compounds of the feedstock due to conversion of said compounds into a water-soluble form.
