FIELD: fuels.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of producing liquid hydrocarbon fuel from renewable plant carbon neutral sources, in particular, macroalgae of the Baltic Sea, by thermal methods. Method for producing a biofuel from macroalgae consists in producing the biofuel from macroalgae biomass in the process of hydrothermal liquefaction in a batch reactor, wherein biomass of various species of wild, not human-cultivated, macroalgae mixed with marine debris and mineral impurities without pretreatment is used for conversion; method is also characterised by the process being conducted using industrial-quality water as a solvent, without applying catalytic systems, under the following process parameters: dry biomass dose 1:15 to 1:5, temperature 270 to 320 °C, pressure 2 to 4 MPa.
EFFECT: processing of natural biomass of macroalgae that do not require a stage of cultivation and essentially constitute waste; elimination of the use of hazardous organic solvents and disposal of gaseous by-products.
