SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to dentistry, and aims at assessing the state of periodontium tissues. Results of clinical examination of ten patient's teeth are taken into account. Obtained values are summed up on all examined teeth, obtained sum is divided by number of examined teeth. Original calculation formula is used to calculate the associated periodontal index (API). Obtained API value is interpreted as follows: if the API value is more than zero and less than 6.0 points inclusive, a mild degree of periodontium disease is determined, if the API value is more than 6.0 and less than 10.0 inclusive, the average degree of periodontium disease, if the API value is more than 10 points, is a severe degree of periodontium disease.

EFFECT: method enables objectively assessing the degree of periodontium disease by determining an associated periodontal index (API).
