FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a catalyst for preventing ammonia breakthrough, containing a combination of platinum on a low ammonia storage support and a first selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, where the first selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst is a Cu-SCR catalyst containing copper and a molecular sieve, or a Fe-SCR catalyst containing iron and a molecular sieve, where the low ammonia storage support is a silicon-containing support which contains silica or zeolite with a silica to aluminum oxide ratio of ≥500, and where the ratio of the amount of the first selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst to the amount of platinum on the low ammonia storage medium is in range of 0.1:1 to 300:1 inclusive per weight of said components.

EFFECT: disclosed is a catalyst which prevents ammonia breakthrough with low formation of H2O.
