FIELD: environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the purification of exhaust gases. Disclosed is a passive NOx adsorbent, effective for adsorption of NOx at a temperature of 200 °C or lower and for the release of adsorbed NOx at temperatures above the specified temperature. Disclosed passive NOx adsorbent comprises a noble metal and a small pore molecular sieve having a maximum ring size of eight tetrahedral atoms. Exhaust system for an internal combustion engine and a method for reducing the content of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas are also disclosed.
EFFECT: invention provides effective purification from nitrogen oxides.
