FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing technical lump silica gel. Method of producing lump silica gel involves mixing a solution of liquid glass with a sulfuric acid solution at 15–25 °C, gelating the solution at temperature of 15–30 °C for 20–40 hours, grinding, washing and heat treatment. According to the method, the pH of the solution obtained when mixing solutions of liquid glass and sulfuric acid is in range of 0–4. Silica gel is treated with an aqueous solution of ammonia.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain lump silica gel, characterized by specific surface area of 200–400 m2/g, moisture absorption of more than 1 cm3/g and hydrolytic stability.
