SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method of producing 4'-(trifluoromethyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine 1
effective ligand in nickel-catalyzed Negishi cross-coupling reactions by reacting lithium (Z)-1,1,1-trifluoro-4-oxo-4-(2-pyridinyl)-2-buten-2-olate with double molar excess of ammonium acetate in diglyme followed by pouring into water, extraction with methylene chloride, evaporation of the end product by chromatographic separation on silica gel while eluting with methylene chloride.
EFFECT: method enables to eliminate hard-to-access and toxic reagents, an expensive, non-air-resistant catalyst, simplifies the apparatus, reduces labor input, reduces reaction time from 20 to 10 hours, simplifies control of the reaction by using the TLC method.
