FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ammonia synthesis plant and method of its modernization. Method comprises a head section for producing make-up gas (1) containing hydrogen and nitrogen, compressor (3) for bringing make-up gas to synthesis pressure, synthesis section (2), operating at synthesis pressure and in which the make-up gas is reacted to obtain product gas, mainly consisting of ammonia, and at least one vapor compression chamber (15, 21) for the product gas or make-up gas flow. Then, at least one heat exchanger (40, 41) and absorption refrigerator (42) are added, wherein at least one heat exchanger (40, 41) is installed upstream of at least one cooler (15, 21) with possibility of heat transfer from the product gas or make-up gas flow to coolant (43, 45), and provide cooling refrigerant absorption refrigerator, and a driving force in the absorption refrigerator using low-grade steam or hot water at 50 °C.
EFFECT: technical result is creation of method of ammonia synthesis unit modernization, which provides high efficiency and/or efficiency without necessity of existing vapor compression refrigerators modification.
