FIELD: astronautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space engineering and can be used primarily for docking of transport vehicles with an orbital station. Method includes storing a television image of an object for a time ΔT, determined based on the required monitoring speed, selecting an image contour, colour is changed to more contrast to initial one, image is scaled with coefficient m, determined depending on controlled motion mode. Obtained reference image is superimposed on current real image after time ΔT from memorizing moment, visually comparing sizes of reference image and current real image, with matching of sizes make conclusion on compliance of speed with specified value, if the size of the actual image is less than the size of the reference image, it is concluded that the speed of relative movement of spacecraft is understated, otherwise it is concluded that speed of relative movement of spacecraft is exceeded.
EFFECT: faster control of speed of relative movement.
