SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely, to forensic medicine. To determine the leading postmortal arm, measuring the height and width of pulp chambers of the first molars to the right and left on computer tomograms. Area of pulp chambers is calculated and lead arm index (LAI) is calculated by formula: where S16 is area of first molar of first segment; S26 is area of first molar of second segment; S36 is the area of the first molar of the third segment; S46 is the area of the first molar of the fourth segment. If the index is less than 1, the right-handedness is determined, and more than 1 - left-handedness.
EFFECT: method provides more accurate determination of a leading arm in postmortal period.
