FIELD: vessels and other watercrafts.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice-breaking, particularly, to performance of icebreaking works by air-cushion ships. Disclosed is a method for destruction of ice cover in shallow water, which consists in simultaneous movement in the same direction of two air-cushion vessels along ice edge in close proximity to each other and to ice edge. First ship is moved along solid ice at resonant speed, and the second one - along free water with critical speed behind the first one. Distance between them must ensure superposition of the maximum height of the gravity wave crest from the second vessel to the first one, that is the deepest, the base of the flexural-gravity wave from the first vessel, which will increase its depth due to weight of water poured onto ice.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of ice cover destruction by resonance method.
