FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal processing of coal in order to obtain carbonated coal with high heat of combustion, while maintaining strength characteristics. Method for production of lump carbonated coal is that initial coal with particle size from 0 to 100 mm is loaded into reactor, tightly closed, after which in reactor pressure is created 5–30 bar and coal is heated to temperature of 500–700 °C. After coal has reached the specified temperature, heating is stopped and carbonated coal is cooled. After cooling the obtained carbonated coal is unloaded from the reactor.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain a carbonated coal, having mechanical strength comparable to the strength of the initial coal, and high lower heat of combustion; relative output of carbonated coal is 50 %, and average size of piece is 35 mm.
