FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of inhibiting polymerisation of ethylenically unsaturated monomers. Method involves feeding a liquid containing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, adding a sufficient amount of the polymerisation inhibitor composition to the liquid and inhibiting polymerisation of the ethylenically unsaturated monomer. Ethylenically unsaturated monomers used are methyl methacrylate, styrene, butadiene and methacrylic acid. Composition of the polymerisation inhibitor for methyl methacrylate, styrene and butadiene is 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinol and N, N'-di-1,4-dimethylphenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine. Composition of a polymerisation inhibitor for methacrylic acid is 4-oxo-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinol and N-(dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine.
EFFECT: use of said polymerisation inhibitors enables to avoid a number of problems occurring when using conventional polymerisation inhibitors, such as problems with logistics, economics and safety.
