FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to investigation of material properties and can be used for determination of deformation capacity of oxide film on inner surface of pipes of superheaters from austenitic and pearlite steels to obtain forecast of further operability of pipes. Method for determining serviceability of superheater tubes includes cutting at least one sample from superheater tube, measuring the sample inner diameter, testing for flattening, by deformation of the sample corresponding to the appearance of the first crack in the oxide film on the inner surface of the sample, determining the operability of the superheater tube, wherein the sample is heated to the superheater operating temperature before the test and from the beginning of the flattening test the video recording of the inner surface of the sample is synchronized with flattening by video cameras to form a continuous metal strip without an oxide film on the inner surface of the sample, moments of scattering of first flakes of oxide film and appearance of the first crack in oxide film are determined from analysis of video recording.
EFFECT: technical result is improvement of prediction accuracy of further efficiency of steam generator pipe.
