FIELD: monitoring systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in systems of continuous contactless high-speed monitoring of condition of deformable metal surface and early diagnostics of damageability of structures from aluminum alloys of systems Al-Zn-Cu-Mg, Al-Mg-Mn, Al-Li-Mg, used in aqueous media (fresh and sea water, aqueous solutions of electrolytes, etc.). Method includes installation of a comparison electrode near a potentially hazardous surface area (voltage concentrator) of an aluminum alloy structure in an aqueous medium, deforming the structure by applying an external force until localized deformation strips appear on the surface of the metal structure, formation of a negative jump of the electrode potential of the deformed aluminum alloy at the moment when the deformation strip or microcrack comes out on the surface, its recording by means of a comparison electrode and an amplifier in frequency band 0.1–10 kHz, wherein the signal source is a negative jump in the electrode potential caused by dissolving aluminum in the aqueous medium in the local region of breaking the Al2O3 oxide film.
EFFECT: providing a high degree of reliability of diagnosing early stages of formation of dangerous destructive damages in the form of strips of localized deformation and cracks in aluminum alloys operated in an aqueous medium (fresh and sea water, aqueous solutions of electrolytes, and so on).
