FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: low-frequency sensor of acoustic emission (vibration transducer) is installed on the device surface near the most loaded zone. The occurrence of the mechanical instability as a macro-localized deformation band is determined by the first burst of the acoustic emission signal with a duration of about 10 milliseconds and the amplitude above the threshold one, which is an acoustic precursor to the loss of the stability, that can cause a sudden material destruction.
EFFECT: providing the opportunities of non-destructive testing and diagnostics of the plastic instabilities, and early warning about the destructive dangers of products and structures of aluminium alloys, exhibiting discontinuous deformation and strip-forming, mainly of the aircraft Al-Mg system alloys.
