FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a contact assembly for supplying vehicles with electric power via an overhead catenary wire. Contact assembly comprises a sliding contact device, a control device for electric arcs and a positioning device for holding and positioning the sliding contact device on the wire. Sliding contact device comprises contact plate holder and contact strip arranged on it. Control device for electric arcs comprises at least one magnet.
EFFECT: as the result, protection of contact assembly from damages caused by electric arcs.
