FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rolling, particularly, to vertical rolls of universal reversing stands of rolling mills. Device comprises frame 1, consisting of two identical components of upper and lower, in which there are covers 4, with vertical roller 2 applied to them through bearings 6 and sealing cups 7, provided are brake shoes 3, rigidly connected to frame 1, and for free movement of vertical roller 2 in direction perpendicular to axis of rolled strip and pressing device 5 there is gap of 2 to 20 mm between frame 1 and cover 4 with the possibility of horizontal displacement of covers 4 with vertical roller 2 towards brake shoes 3.
EFFECT: invention enables self-braking of vertical rolls after strip outlet from reduction zone, to reduce dynamic effect on vertical rolls at strip task in opposite direction, reduced different polarity of the band reversal task band capture time and as a result, dynamic impacts; compensating for dynamic impacts due to impact damping by pressing device; increased durability of equipment components.
