SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an improved method obtaining hydroxyalkyl piperazine compounds, involving the following steps: i) feeding a piperazine feed stream in a first position into a reactive distillation column having an upper portion, a middle portion and a lower portion, ii) feeding a C2-C8 alkylene oxide feed stream in one or more two positions to a reactive distillation column, iii) reacting piperazine and C2-C8 alkylene oxide in the reaction zone of the reactive distillation column, iv) removing an upper stream containing unreacted piperazine from an upper portion of the reactive distillation column, v) removing a still product containing hydroxyalkyl piperazine compounds, from the lower part of the reactive distillation column, in which the first position of supplying the piperazine feed stream is in the upper part of the reactive distillation column, and second feed position of alkylene oxide feed stream is in reaction distillation column below first position.
EFFECT: present invention aims at obtaining hydroxyalkyl piperazine compounds, preferably hydroxyethyl piperazine compounds, more preferably mono-hydroxyethyl piperazine, id est 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine, a method which simplifies the purification process; additional object of the present invention is to improve the yield of mono-hydroxyethyl piperazine relative to the amount of di-hydroxyethyl piperazine, for example, 1,4-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine and other by-products; another task of the present invention is that said reaction can be carried out continuously in order to avoid problems, associated with periodic reaction.
