FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular, to production of spacer grids for fast neutron reactors using welding, and can be used in production of fuel assemblies for power reactors. Method of making spacer grids for a nuclear reactor fuel assembly includes obtaining a thin-walled pipe, cutting it into measuring billets, production of shaped cells from them by stamping, assembly of cells into hexagon, contact spot welding between them and with rim plates; at that, thin-wall tube is made as bimetallic with external layer of ferrite steel and internal one – from ferritic-martensite steel. Ratio of thicknesses of layers makes 1:(1–4) accordingly, thus ferrite phase is formed at welding in zone of cast core.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to manufacture spacer grids from ferritic-martensitic steels with preservation of high corrosion resistance in liquid metal coolant.
