FIELD: meteorology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to meteorology and can be used for monitoring of meteorological situation. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is driven by wind and equipped with navigation devices, is launched into the area of interest. Latitude, longitude and altitude of initial and final points of route and current time are measured using satellite navigation system. Wind direction and speed are calculated by solving inverse geodetic task. UAV is directed along several straight-line routes with given courses relative to direction to magnetic pole of Earth in horizontal plane through two vertically spaced points. Obtained measurement data are transmitted via radio communication channels to control station for processing. Simultaneously, vertical measurement of wind velocity in surface layer of atmosphere is carried out directly under measurement points of UAV using means of meteorological set, which is placed taking into account orography. Obtained data are transmitted via radio communication channels in real time to ground control station. Vertical wind profile is approximated from measurements at three heights.
