FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to conversion of initial hydrocarbons to light olefins and other hydrocarbons. Invention relates to a method of converting hydrocarbons, comprising feeding a first particle and a second particle into a reactor, wherein the first particle has a smaller average size and/or less density than the second particle, and wherein first particle and second particle independently represent catalytic or non-catalytic particles; feeding initial hydrocarbon feedstock into reactor; extracting from the reactor a distillate containing a converted hydrocarbon, a second particle and a first particle; separating the second particle from the distillate to obtain a first stream comprising a first particle and a converted hydrocarbon, and a second stream comprising a separated second particle; returning the separated second particle in the second stream to the reactor. Invention also relates to embodiments of a method of converting hydrocarbons, a system for cracking hydrocarbons, a particle separator for separating catalysts or other particles based on their size and/or density, embodiments of systems for converting hydrocarbons.

EFFECT: technical result is improved conversion, selectivity of product and heat balance by concentration of selected catalyst in reactor.
