FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthopedic dentistry and discloses a method for cleaning and disinfecting removable dentures. Method involves dipping prostheses into a solution containing sodium carbonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, chlorhexidine bigluconate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium silicate and water at a certain weight ratio. Then, ultrasound treatment is carried out in said solution for 3 minutes at room temperature with frequency of 20–24 kHz and subsequent washing. pH value of used solutions within 11–12 eliminates microbial activity, increases solubility of organic deposits due to formation of negatively charged organic particles.
EFFECT: proposed combination of chemical agents in combination with ultrasonic treatment in said mode has 100 % antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal activity with short exposure (for 3 minutes), completely removes soft and hard foreign deposits, does not change color of plastic and does not lead to corrosion of metal parts that in aggregate prolongs terms of using prostheses; invention can be used for cleaning and disinfecting removable dentures.
