FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of determining deformation of equipment in contact with hot material, as well as to equipment in contact with hot material equipped with means for determining deformation along first direction. Disclosed method of determining deformation along first direction of equipment in contact with hot material and comprising an inner surface in contact with hot material, and the outer surface opposite the inner surface, comprises steps of: providing on the outer surface the presence of: at least one first optical fiber installed along a first direction and comprising at least two first Bragg gratings having different lattice periods to reflect photons with different Bragg wavelengths, and at least two second optical fibers installed along at least one second direction, which crosses said first optical fiber at intersection point located in the vicinity of one of said first Bragg gratings, and each of which in the vicinity of said intersection point comprises a second Bragg grating having a grating period for reflecting photons with Bragg wavelength. Then one introduces photons with wavelengths belonging to a group of wavelengths containing all said Bragg wavelengths to corresponding first ends of said first and second optical fibers, determining the wavelength of photons reflected by a corresponding first or second Bragg grating, and determining equipment deformation along said first direction based on corresponding pairs, each of which contains measured wavelength λR and corresponding Bragg wavelength λB.
EFFECT: enabling determination and tracking of equipment deformations.
