SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agricultural machine building, in particular, to machines for mowing of agricultural crops, specifically to cutters of mowing machines and harvesters. Harvester cutting unit comprises a knife in the form of a chain contour with segments, a knife drive, a sensor, a control unit, a signaling device, a drive with a brush, note here that harvester speed sensor and analogue-to-digital converter are connected in series to control unit input and control unit is functionally connected with chain circuit drive to control unit output.

EFFECT: automatic control of linear speed of segments of a chain contour at failure of one or several segments for performance of agrotechnical requirements on quality of a cut of plants is provided.
