SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of machine building. Control modes of traction, coasting and hot settling of railway rolling stock with input single-phase width-pulse voltage converter at its stop. At reduction of total consumed current of electric rolling stock below preset nominal value, value of reactive capacitance component of full consumed current is increased. Reactive capacitive component value is increased until the value of the full consumed current reaches the nominal value and the voltage on the current collector of the electric rolling stock does not reach the maximum allowable voltage on the current collector of the railway rolling stock under any operating conditions, except for switching modes.

EFFECT: reduced voltage losses in overhead system.
