SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for producing hydrogen from water. System comprises: (a) a structural material for placing: a primary reagent in a solid or liquid state, selected from the group: alkali metals, alkali-earth metals, alloys of alkali and alkali-earth metals, alkali metal hydrides or hydrides of alkali-earth metals, alloys of potassium and sodium, or lithium and sodium alloy in ratio of 5/95; and an accelerating reagent in a solid state, selected from: silicon, tin, iron, zinc, manganese, aluminum, beryllium, magnesium and their alloys; (b) a retarding material which slows the rate of the process and is in contact with the structural material, and (c) diffusion material, through which diffusion of water before reaction with primary reagent and into which the obtained hydrogen permeates.
EFFECT: technical result is the development of a system and an economical and efficient method of producing high purity hydrogen.
