METHOD FOR PREVENTION OF POPLITEAL VASCULAR-NERVE BUNDLE TRAUMA IN ENDOPROSTHESIS REPLACEMENT FOR PRIMARY AND METASTATIC INVOLVEMENT OF DISTAL FEMUR Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B17/56

Abstract RU 2729728 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to reconstructive surgery for localizing a malignant tumor in distal femoral or proximal portions of tibia. Tumor is removed together with bones forming a knee joint. After the drug is removed, the popliteal neurovascular bundle is separated and covered with a synthetic polyethylene terephthalate stocking. Stocking is fixed along the perimeter to the surrounding tissues with six interrupted sutures within the popliteal neurovascular bundle. Medullary canal of tibia is drilled with an air-drill, a site for a tibial component of the endoprosthesis is sawed out. Cavity of the medullary canal of the femoral and tibia bones is alternately reamed with 15mm-diameter reamers, and femoral and tibia implant components are cement-free implanted.

EFFECT: method enables reducing a rate of complications, avoiding additional traumatisation and reducing a function occurring when moving a muscular flap to the area of the neurovascular bundle, due to the fact that the main neurovascular bundle is concealed by a synthetic stocking.
