FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to vascular surgery. Carotid artery (CA) bifurcation model is constructed and tangential stress of its wall is evaluated. That is combined with computed angiography and CA bifurcation model based on the results thereof. CA wall tangential stress is evaluated taking into account blood pressure at the outlet of its atherosclerotic lesion and simultaneously determining equivalent stress in its wall and cyclic deformation of CA wall taking into account changes of arterial blood pressure inside its lumen. When the tangential stress value is equal to 1.5 Pa and lower, as well as with simultaneous values of equivalent stress equal to 0.08 MPa and higher, and / or cyclic deformation of 0.00077 conv. units and higher, if the systemic arterial pressure values are 160 mm Hg and lower, the risk of atherosclerotic plaque rupture is considered to be extremely high, which is an indication for the surgical intervention.
EFFECT: method enables predicting the risk of embologenic rupture of carotid atherosclerotic plaque by constructing a bifurcation model CA and evaluating the tangential stress of its wall and performing a timely surgical intervention.
