SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, particularly, to bodies of covered cars. Covered car comprises frame (2) with anti-slip flooring installed on running gears, body (4) with sliding doors (5) and mechanism of their movement. Roof is equipped with platforms and functional transition. At the roof ends ventilation devices are installed, end walls are equipped with ladders and hand-rails for lifting to the roof. Roof consists of a combination of a flat rolled sheet and at least five rectangular inserts from rolled metal with a corrugated surface, four of which encircle the hole of each hatch, and fifth, located on car transverse axis, is functional connection between platforms.

EFFECT: invention increases functionality of covered car, facilitates and speeds up loading, maintenance and repair.
